Puppet 101

Abstract:

Topics covered will be Manifests, Modules, Facts, Hiera, Puppet Master, Vagrant and much more …

The workshop will first be a high level overview of what Puppet is and is not, what it can do and what it can't. We will delve into code using Vagrant and write a puppet module and manifest with hiera for this example. Each concept will be looked at and details on how to use puppet in an enterprise environment will be explained, along with the typical lifecycle. If time permits we will look at Puppet.conf file and Node definitions.

Prerequisites:

• A laptop with VirtualBox and Vagrant installed.
• Basic linux know-how
